Clarity in its purest form

Acrylic is available in many different shapes, sizes and colours. You can go either way and vary endlessly. Colourless, clear acrylic is at least as versatile as anything else. Purity, optical clarity and endless possibilities: our range has it all. Find out why clear acrylic is the perfect choice for your next project.

Clear acrylic, also known as PMMA, polymethyl methacrylate or plexiglass, offers a unique combination of transparency, durability and versatility. The material is as clear as crystal and offers an optical purity that takes design to the next level. For projects where purity of material is essential, or just when you want to let creativity run wild from the start: clear acrylic is the ideal starting point.

Quality is no coincidence: it is the result of high-quality materials and craftsmanship

UV-resistant acrylic

Clear acrylic is naturally UV-resistant and does not yellow from exposure to sunlight. This makes it an excellent choice for both indoor and outdoor applications. In particular, our block acrylic, which is UV-stable as standard, is often used for outdoor projects such as swimming pool windows and viewing windows.

Difference between clear cast and extruded acrylic

Cast acrylic (CA) is optically very pure and available in many varieties and colours. It is produced by casting the material between two sheets of glass, which provides flexibility but also a variation in thickness (thickness tolerance). For premium quality, this variation can fall within a range of +/- 0.4 mm plus 10% of the nominal thickness, so a 10mm sheet can vary from 8.6 mm to 11.4 mm.

Extruded acrylic (XT), on the other hand, is made in a continuous process, resulting in a very constant thickness with minimal thickness tolerance. This makes XT acrylic suitable for applications where precise dimensions are important, such as profiles. Although it is optically slightly less clean than GS, the differences are hardly visible with smaller sheets. XT is generally cheaper due to the production process, but offers less flexibility and fewer variants and colours.

Discover the shapes

At Pyrasied, we offer clear acrylic in different shapes, tailored to various applications and projects. Thanks to the unique properties of acrylic, there is always a suitable solution for your specific application.

Cast acrylic clear

Cast acrylic (CA) sheets are perfect for projects where optical clarity and durability are of great importance. This material is often used for high-quality display cases in museums and shops, luxury furniture, and designer lighting. Architects and interior designers also choose cast acrylic because of its premium appearance and versatile processing options, such as laser cutting and glueing.

Extruded acrylic

For projects where precision and consistent thickness are important, extruded acrylic (XT) sheets are the best choice. These sheets are widely used in the production of billboards, displays and light boxes. They are also popular in the industry for machine guards and protective covers, where dimensional stability and a tight finish are crucial.

Clear acrylic block

Our blocks of clear acrylic start at a thickness of 50 mm and are available up to as much as 120 mm. Their exceptional clarity and weather resistance make them ideal for applications such as swimming pool windows and underwater viewing windows, where crystal clear visibility is essential. In addition, these thick acrylic blocks are used in shipbuilding for portholes, in industry for turning and milling parts, and even in the art world for sculptures and design objects. As the material is UV-stable and does not yellow, it is also perfect for long-term outdoor use.

What is the difference between acrylic and Plexiglas?

Plexiglass is actually a brand name for acrylic, similar to how ‘Evian’ is often used to denote spring water. In both cases, the material itself is polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), which is known for its clarity, strength and versatility.

Clear acrylic brands

Our range includes four leading brands of clear acrylic.

  • Green Cast: Durable, UV-resistant and suitable for various creative and industrial projects.
  • Astariglas: Offers products of unparalleled transparency and innovation.
  • Ecocrylic: Made entirely from recycled extruded acrylic with excellent optical properties.
  • Plexiglas: Top quality, with high clarity and weather resistance.

Machining, cutting and maintaining clear acrylic

Acrylic is easy to work with the right tools. You can saw, mill, drill and even laser cut it for tight and precise shapes. Cast acrylic is better suited for laser cutting, while extruded acrylic works better for mechanical operations such as drilling or sawing. In addition, the material can be polished to give a perfectly clear finish.

Cleaning acrylic is easy. Use a soft cloth and a mild detergent, such as a special plastic cleaner. Avoid harsh detergents or scouring pads as they can cause scratches. For stubborn stains, antistatic plastic cleaner is ideal, as it not only cleans but also repels dust.
