Acrylic, polycarbonate or PETG
Choosing the right material depends on the application and requirements of your machine cover or part. We recommend the following options:
Acrylic
- Acrylic is known for its exceptional clarity with a light transmission of 92%. This material is 25 times stronger than glass and significantly lighter. Acrylic is easy to process and does not shatter. It is UV-resistant, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications as it doesn’t discolour. The material is available in various colours and thicknesses, ideal for giving the machine a unique look.
Polycarbonate
- Polycarbonate offers excellent impact resistance and is available in clear, smoke brown, and anthracite in various thicknesses. It is 250 times stronger than glass and has a fire rating of Bs1d0. Although the material scratches more easily than acrylic, it offers more safety because it cannot break.
PETG
- PETG is the only clear plastic with food-grade certification. This makes PETG suitable for machines that are used in food contact applications.
