Polycarbonate

The impact-resistant powerhouse with myriad great uses

Polycarbonate is a clear, transparent plastic material with an extraordinarily high impact resistance. The transparent plastic is 250 times stronger than glass of the same thickness. This property means it can be put to great use as safety or protective glazing that needs to be vandal-proof, burglar-proof, impact-resistant or extra secure.

The brilliant applications of Polycarbonate – versatile and unbreakable

• Extremely high impact-resistance• UV-resistant• B1 rating (flame retardant)

Fire safe

Polycarbonate has such a good fire rating that the fire service allows its use in most public spaces. This is thanks to the material’s high temperature resistance. It is also self-extinguishing and fire-retardant.

Unique material characteristics

Another feature of this material is that it does not break if you bend it without heating. The sheets are also 50% lighter than glass. These material properties make polycarbonate an excellent choice for use in burglar-proof glazing, bike sheds, lighting, ceiling panels, machine parts, protective covers, bulkheads, technical products, boat windows and illuminated signs.

At Pyrasied, you can choose from the following types of Polycarbonate

Clear

Polycarbonate is 250 times stronger than glass and much easier to work with. Clear polycarbonate lets more light through than glass and it has a very low blur factor. When it comes to clear polycarbonate, there is a huge range of options available. Thicknesses range from 0.75mm to 15 mm. Pyrasied stocks the right thickness for any project.

Tube and rod

Choose from round transparent polycarbonate rods and satin polycarbonate tubes. Here again, you can benefit from polycarbonate’s extreme impact resistance, UV resistance and excellent fire rating.

Smoke

Polycarbonate is available in clear or mirror but also in smoke, brown and grey. It is ideal for use as boat windows, machine covers or interior partitions. When impact resistance and fire rating are crucial, but you need colour too, then the smoke/colour combination is the material for you.

Diffuser

Polycarbonate light diffusers are extraordinarily impact-resistant, which makes them vandal-proof. This material has negligible thickness tolerance and is fire-rated, so it can be used in public spaces.

Mirror

Mirrored polycarbonate is an impact-resistant sheet with a reflective surface on one side. The mirror can be used for a large variety of applications. It creates a stylish look in shop windows, reduces heat and light penetration if used as glazing, and provides shade and privacy.
